- It gives me great pleasure to welcome you in joining us on this joyous and significant occasion, the opening of Phase Two of the Labuan International School or LIS. I am pleased to see a large turnout this evening. Thank you for being here to share this important moment with us.
- It is with the utmost sincere appreciation that I thank Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Dr. Mohd Irwan Serigar bin Abdullah, Secretary-General, Ministry of Finance for graciously accepting our invitation to be here today. Many of you may recall that Tan Sri was here three years ago for officiating the opening of the LIS new campus in 2012. Today, we are very honored to have Tan Sri again to officiate the opening of the newly completed swimming pool and hostels.
- The Labuan International School is another testament of the Government’s commitment to provide Labuan IBFC the much needed international standing in providing education facilities to the community in Labuan. In particular, the Ministry of Finance, has been very supportive in continually enhancing the quality of learning environment in the LIS, culminating in the conception and building of this school and its facilities. On behalf of Labuan FSA and LIS, I would like to once again thank Y Bhg Tan Sri and the Ministry of Finance for your continuous support in giving us the constant guidance, and the necessary funding to further enhance the school’s facilities. The latest addition to the facilities are the swimming pool and the hostels which I am sure many of you would agree with me that the sight of the school with its towering auditorium, classrooms complex, Olympic sized pool and hostels is indeed a magnificent sight for the school and for the folks of Labuan.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
- Constructing a new school building and building facilities is not an overnight feat. It takes much efforts in planning, consultation and mainly perseverance, besides prayers to Allah for no mishaps to occur in the course of the construction. Alhamdulillah we have completed the phase II project with the support and cooperation of many parties involved who have facilitated the process to construct the swimming pool and hostel blocks. On this occasion, I would like to acknowledge the project’s Agensi Perlaksana, Pembinaan BLT Sdn Bhd, for its excellent efforts in coordinating the design, construction and management of the project at various stages of progress development. I must also recognise the contribution of Wibawa Pakat Construction Sdn Bhd, the contractor of the project, for diligently carrying out the construction of the swimming pool and hostels. I would like to also thank other government departments and local government agencies namely Perbadanan Labuan, Jabatan BOMBA, Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran, Jabatan Alam Sekitar, Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd and Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd who had helped and supported the construction of the new facilities.
- Lastly, I would like to thank the parents, teachers and students for your continued support to LIS and your presence tonight to witness the opening of the swimming pool and hostel blocks by Tan Sri. On that note, I would like to once again thank Tan Sri, for being closely involved in monitoring the progress of the physical infrastructure of the school and for driving all of us in completing this complex. I would like now to end my welcoming remarks as I am sure Tan Sri would have more words of wisdoms for all of us in your launching remarks this evening to encourage LIS to be a premier institution that provides full spectrum of education system and future leaders and champions.
